MeGuiar's QuikOut - Damn, It Works.

It is less than RM100 per bottle

Job well done

Close-up comparison
Ugly

Yucks

I bought QuikOut 2 months ago before X'mas and thought i could do some DIY during the year end holdays. But instead i was busy working and didnt have the time and the hot weather to do this DIY project.

It has been really hot the last few days and the best part im off from work today. So i decided to give it a try with some tips given from the MeGuiar's distributor staff from where i bought QuikOut.

Initially i wanted to send to the shop to have my cabin ceiling steam-washed but i hate the queue where there are so many ppl queueing to polish and wax their cars. So i went to MeGuiar's and bought a bottle of QuikOut. You can get/order them from any Ace Hardware stores nearby if they have stock.

All i had was a bottle of QuikOut and 2 clean towels. I set the nozzle to spray and sprayed half of the ceiling carpet for comparison purposes. I let them soaked between 5-10 minutes and use my 1st clean towel to scrape the foaming dirt. Goodness. My towel turned black and i can see the differences immediately. The other towel i dampened with with water and wiped off clean the leftovers.

As you can see from the photos, i purposely did half of the ceiling. The stain was horrible and ugly. I am a non smoker and the only thing i can think of is when i used to drive with my windows open for the last many years. On top of that, this i believed is the 1st time my ceiling carpet is getting some cleaning since it came out from the factory more than 10 years ago.

The process took 30-45 minutes for the whole ceiling. This is the 1st round and im planning to do again a month from now and see the difference. The drying process will take an hour or so as long its a warm hot day and open all your windows.

I cant imagine if your ceiling carpet is dark colour and the dirt that has been hanging out and growing since it came out from the factory. If you are a smoker and drives with your windows open, be prepare to see the result.

Im happy with this DIY project. Thanks to whatever his name was at Meguiar's for the tips.

Steering Wheel Swap - 5Zigen N1R

I swapped my oldschool Nardi steering wheel with my brother's 5Zigen N1R. Since he has plans to collect all the oldschool black-spoked Nardi's, swapping with another rare toy into my car is always good.

I should match it with the N1R rims. Slurp slurp.

Thanks bro.

Proton Satria Neo CPS

Those that bought the current version Proton Satria NEO must be frustrated with this new CPS launched recently. With the nicer bodykit and better engine performance, i have a feeling this is gonna be another round of hotcakes/donuts/nasilemakpanas on the queue.

There are plenty of spyshots and test drives reviews if you search online. On top of that, plentiful rounds of bashing towards this new upgrade from Proton which i have expected.

The good thing :
  • The add-on aerokits are factory standard unlike the R3 aerokits where you have to purchase and paint separately.

  • The white colour makes the car look bigger.

The bad thing :

  • I hope this model is not gonna be as "muffin hot" like the elder brother where aerokit conversion enthusiats are seeking for cheaper parts, you know what i mean.

I'll give this car a 8/10 and i hope in the future PROTON will produce bigger displacement engines for sporty cars. I have this sinful dream intention of planting my favourite engine is this car. "Sad eyes", white colour, 2 litre and hopefully Meor doesnt read this. Ha ha

Hmm, a carbon fiber non-vented hood, 17x7.5 Offset +42 SSR Type-F Flat Black and maybe a set of TEIN SuperStreets. Nice, in my dreams.

Visiting Puspakom & JPJ ; The Real Deal

Not so long ago, my brother bought a halfcut for his Integra. Same model and same displacement engine. It was a replacement engine for his old Vtec turbocharged engine which has been sold to someone else. So basically the new engine has to be legalised.

We went to Puspakom and JPJ fully loaded. Didnt even change the exhaust, tint and etc. So the deal was to legalised the new engine. We went to JPJ and straight to the Technical Department. We were asked to go to Puspakom which the sad part, Puspakom was far away. By hook or by crook we had to get things done on that particular day.

As we arrived Puspakom, we had to pay a fee and filled up a small form. Shortly after that we were asked to queue as the inspection lane. We noticed the humps and hurdles on all lanes. They looked like they want all lowered cars to fail and get stuck by the looks of it. We queued, they popped up the hood, switched on all available lights and moved slowly while they inspected. The exhaust sound was throbbing during the checking. At the end of the lane, the car was asked to be parked at the open parking space and another round of fee had to be paid.

The car was asked to queue again at the last lane for final inspection and this time it was like a circus show. Since my brother's engine bay is clean and shining, it attracted many people including the officers. The car was checked thoroughly including the under carriage. At the end of the lane, the generated the B2 report that shows all the new information for the new engine. The car passed the test.

We had to go to JPJ again and this time we went to the Technical Department. Again, they pointed us to go to the main office. We took a ticket and another form, sat down and waited for our turn. When our turn came, we had another problem, for new engine change, they must be a new car insurance. We dashed to town and paid the new insurance which was only RM5. The amount will change if we did not do the same day and increase day by day. The small fee was just to send a notice telling them they were notified by the change.

We dashed back to JPJ, didnt take any numbers this time due to the fact it was lunch hour and JPJ will start work only after lunch time and the numbering system will be switched on by then. We just queued at the same lady (luckily she was still around) and everything went through well. Even there was a bit of minor issues here and there, we managed to settle it.

It took us between 4-5 hours. Had to travel back and forth JPJ-Puspakom-JPJ-Insurance Co-JPJ. After the long ordeal, we had a good fish curry head lunch.

Tips For You :

  • Make sure you have your documentations (Custom Form, Purchase Receipt, etc) are right and filled up attached the latest forms from both JPJ and Puspakom.
  • Valid car insurance.
  • Bring a witness plus his/her MyKad.
  • Make copies of all the signed forms, MyKad and driving license.
  • Wake up at dawn and queue up before they even open in the morning.
  • Have a damn good breakfast with plenty of water.
  • Bring extra pens.
  • Bring money.
  • Bring a lot of patience and perseverance.
The Easy Way :

  • If you do not have time - Pay a runner.
  • If you have any health issues - Pay a runner.
  • If you do not have patience and perseverance - Pay a runner.
  • If you are slow and lazy - Pay a runner.
  • If you do not like queueing - Pay a runner.
  • If you do not like the sun or rain - Pay a runner.

I think registering the same engine with the same displacement shouldnt be harder than those with different engines and displacements.

There are possibilities that you could fail during the Puspakom checkups. I believe different states has their own ways of pushing your patience with the rules and regulations.

Good luck if you plan to visit any of them.

Rest & Relax

Ive been away for the last 2 weeks. Wish i had more holidays. No stress, good food and good sleep.

My brother was also in town and he spent most of his time sleeping and recuperating from weeks of oncalls.

We did some brainstorming and hopefully whatever pending will be completed this year. Whatever spares we'll just keep as backups.

We are still smiling and modding on top of this economical crisis. Not that we are on top of the problem, we have already accepted that shit is actually happening as we speak. Complaining aint gonna save you if you live in your own tiny box. Too many i see still being in denial. Too bad if you dont plan i guessed.

I have updated both blogs. Car modifications or photography or both, its your reading choice.

Later.

Sani's Teg COOL-IT Insulating Wrap

Ive done this before on my own car. It took me an hour to complete this. My brother didnt even noticed until he went outside and realised everything was done neatly. Luckily we had enough cable ties.

The car is almost done with the cooling products except for the last negative cold air chamber box which is still in drawing sketches at the moment.

No complains from my brother. Its all good then.

My 2009 Doddle

  • Few days ago i was a year older. On that particular same day it was my 3rd year blogging for Mivek4doddle.
  • I think i have more time to mod this year compared to the last few years where i get more day offs this year. I thought i could complete the modding list last year but i still have a few pending mods to complete. Passion and perseverance keeps me going.
  • I think a few of my mates are busy modding their cars, hopefully i dont miss a chance and get to capture their before and after processes. A tiny few of them are still lost in the modding world with mixed priorities between love, life and stupidity.
  • I have a feeling that people are rushing to sell their museum antics before the JDM burning passion starts to dim.
  • I am opening another blog for my new hobby.

TAS 2009 : Mugen RR ADVANCED CONCEPT

The last time when they release the RR version and also the Experimental version, i chose the Experimental version. It seems this version is the combination of both specs.

I like this car very much. Nothing much more can u ask for when its mostly carbon composite and polycarbonate body. I noticed the strict crash course diet in this model.

More infos and specs here :

Would love to drive this 2.2L lightweight monster to work. Ha ha.

Beyond My Imagination : Perodua Kancil

Faizal sent me these pix. The things you can do in Indonesia.

It looks like a Lotus Elise, probably lighter. Creative engineering on this little car. Reminds me of Lipu. Ha ha.

Hizam's TEIN Super Street : Hypertune Magazine Review

Hizam's car was featured in last month's Hypertune magazine. They reviewed about the new TEIN SS for the Mini Cooper. Since Hizam is the first Mini Cooper owner in town to use them, he was very happy with the result. With some adjustments done by Mr. Sugano from TEIN, the ride hight and comfort were nice according to Hizam.

It may not be a european brand to match with the car, but it serves its purpose and function.

They are available at N1-Racing, Sunway, Selangor.

Jeff's New TIAL Wastegate

I believe this is his birthday toy this month. Hehe.

Redza's Another AEM CAI Purchase

Redza's AEM CAI (blue colored ones he bought before this), was 0.5 inches off from his throttlebody size. Due to that he decided not to fit his brand new AEM CAI system, instead he ordered another set to fit in his car. The latest AEM CAI is a full 3-inch piping size which bolts in perfectly to the straight coupling to his throttlebody.

Redza sold his unused AEM to one of his friends and this is the engine bay after the complete fitting. Do notice the water bypass valve incase if you worry so much about water and puddles. It eliminates the unlikely chance of water ingestion should the filter element becomes wet from deep puddles, rain, hail, sleet or snow or any other scenario in which the filter element could encounter or become submerged in water.

This is a nice project, but it is not cheap once it arrives in this country. Damn.

2009 Mitsubishi Colt - Ralliart Version

While i was browsing the net, this new colt caught my eyes. My 1st comment was the front looks like an Evo X. The rear as similar design with the previous Colt version. The car looks cute. If you cant afford an Evo X, this is nice daily beater to move around the city area.

But then again, with the brand monopoly in this country, u'll get more sedans and automatics transmission cars than the real-2-door sports car, boohoo!. The ugly 4-door-sports-sedan cars are being imported into this country. The nicer reconditioned ones are reserved for the grey importers. Ive seen a few nice Golf Gti MK V, 2-door, right hand drive version in Singapore and i have not seen any around here.

Nice 1.5L turbocharged car. If you want bigger cabin room and more doors, buy a van. Sheesh.

JB Trip : Meor's Honda S2000 Teaser

One of the reason i didnt recommend Meor the S2000 was due to the fact he doesnt look good in it. DC5 would be more comfortable, isnt Meor?. Ha ha.

Bob's SSR Type-X

I think i know too many people using the SSR Type-X. Bob had to struggle to get his own set since he was aftering a specific wheel width and offset. Pity him, he lost a deal before this due to the fact some people are just not as friendly as he thought they would be.

According to him, he has done a few mods on the car and im waiting for the pix to come soon.

Keep it up!

Another Old Story : Signal Auto Non-Vtec CR-X

Whop..whop..whop..whop..whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

As far as i know this car dragged few times and after clocking 11.3s it went missing in action in US. I cant recall any results they made in Japan. Signal Auto prolly retired the car and concentrate on their monster Civic EKs.

Comparing the results and the engine setup with the current trend modifications, its far away to be honest. More like a low budget oldschool pocket rocket i would say.

Dont mind me, oldschool and ITBs are just me. Have a donut and click the link if you wanna read more about it :

UNEXPLAINED : Monster Proton Satria GTi

An old story worth to talk about.

I've been keeping this articles for quite sometime. Everytime when i look at it, its gives me inspiration and hope that the 4G9X stories would last another 10 more years from now, i hope.

This story was featured in the Hong Kong version Option Fans magazine. It was somewhere between year 2003-2005 when this project happened. As i gathered few real life sources and also feedback from the internet, it all started from a Japanese guy came to Malaysia to study here as a student and fell in love with the Proton Satria GTi. If i were to put myself in his shoes, i think the Satria GTi is a souped up version of the Mitsubishi Mirage Cyborg with the lacking of the Mivec technology under the hood. So i believe he paid cash for the car since he knew this is gonna be the only Satria GTi in town (in Japan i mean) and it would be a collectors item if kept well.

The thing about this car is that, everything was plain stock when it was in Malaysia but when it left Malaysia, everything under the hood has been modfied extensively in Japan. The only exterior mod i can see from the pix would probably the rims (look carefully, its darker when it was in Japan).

What so cool about this setup is that, it is a stroked up 1.8L 4G93p close to 2.0L. Beside the massive 22.6kg/m torque, the ITBs definitely helped to push more power towards the high rpms. Honestly, i cannot imagine with that kind of torque everytime you pop the gears.

From what i can see, he is using the MOTEC M4 since he is running on ITBs. There are no plug and play EMSes for the 4G93p, which sometimes i wish they had. Custom headers that looks slightly like my RPW headers. A TODA/Exedy 3-puck semi-race clutch. Also clearly the TODA ITBs which were customed fit for the 4G93P. From the specs, i think it should be running on a 4G94 crank. On top of that in Japan they are drinking 100 RON fuel.

I have a feeling that he went straightaway to a potential tuner/garage in Japan and modded the engine extensively. It is quite typical for Honda racing tuners in Japan to use the MOTEC + TODA ITBs combination which has been done by Signal Auto in the past. If i do the math, my guess would be this guy sent this car directly to TODA especially when you have the ITBs, clutch, stroker kit and a high possibility a custom extractor when TODA makes all of them if money is not an issue. It is also typical for TODA to recommend their customers to use standalone EMSes like MOTEC and Apex'I Power-FC for the ITBs setup. I let you think about this.

I reckoned this car is daily driven, exterior and interior untouched, with air-con (look at the aircon pipings) and no dieting process. I believe a lot of money has been spent to do this project. There could be more or less things in the car which we dont know. As much as we are balls excited to know, there could be less things in the car.

The closest thing to this style and setup is Jason's car. It may not be as fast and torquey but it certainly has power steering and air-con with no carbon fiber dietary products.

It's already 2009, most of my Satria GTi friends has sold their cars. Some went sedans, some went continentals and some still trying to figure out what is the best camshafts and extractors *doh*. By blogging this story, i hope to put some sense of hope and achievement to talkabout when you gather around with your friends.

As much as i want to know and talk about this monster, there are plenty unexplained mods and nothing much i can say further since its not around here. The funny thing is, we do have smiliar mods being done over here, just that they are not information friendly.

It would be easier to do this on the Honda, isnt it?

2009 Already?

I can breathe now.

Last December 2008, i was swarmed with work. I was working on public holidays and i was on-called during the weekends. I wish i was a doctor, but im not. Working during the festive seasons can be pathetic if they dont double or triple up your allowances. With the recession meltdown coming soon, which i think has arrived, i'll just take whatever i can to the last cent.

I missed a lot of good movies and the MeGuiar's bottles were waiting anxiously for me to use them for my DIY projects as i walked passed them everyday before going to work.

I noticed that im reading my un-updated blog which has slowed down since November 2008. I should be back in action by tomorrow.

It's never too late to wish everyone Happy New Year. It's only too late if you do NOTHING or do SHIT to your car all the time.
