Redza's ENDYN Breather Kit

Last weekend i managed to meetup with Redza and he showed me his Endyn's breather kit. If only i had a Vtec engine, i would have gotten this breather kit too. The kit comes complete and it is as big as a Coke can.

I have a Sard oil catch tank and i have seen other breather kits like ARC, Carbing and Cusco but they dont look as good as the Endyn's kit. I dunno, maybe it looks nicer and the price matches the size.

I have read Endyn's notes and articles since 2001. I have no one to share and talk about it during those times due to the fact most people believe strong engines comes from Japan and not US. Ha ha.

Check out their archive and articles sections.

Milk, Cookies & ITBs

Sooner or later once i get myself a b-series engine to mod, im going to get another set of ITBs for my car. The dream seems to get clearer each day when i think about it. I have learned many things in the past that excites me to go through this path, again.

In reality, everybody wants torque. With a B16A, u can squeeze every blood of it and the torque isnt that much to talk about. Watch Omniman 200whp B16A DVD and you'll understand what i mean. To produce torque, you need air flow velocity. To get air flow velocity from ITBs, you need long, stepped runners.

Jenvey ITBs have short runners, and have hardly any step to them. The quality is nice, and they make good for high-end horsepower. Jenvey ITBs can be expensive when personal custom size and optimisation are concern.

There are people that seems to be debating about IM vs ITBs. ITBs are not for everyone especially if you are on a tight budget. A normal IM or aftermarket IM should be alright considering your budget vs power factors. A bare intake manifold compared to a fully dressed complete ITB setup is comparing apples to oranges. You need a suitable EMS to make full use of the ITBs performance.

In comparison, TWM comes in 2 sizes and 1 length. Jenvey come in 7 sizes and several lengths. Since TWM is cheaper than Jenvey, i think getting the TWM and figuring out how to modify the rest of the engine, pistons, cams, head work, would be a good start point of any build. Based on the engine setup and displacements changes, 1 size definitely do not fit all when it comes to ITBs.

As far as ITBs are concerned, you cant just take a set of 52mm ITBs and throw them on an engine and expect the world. If you match the wrong size ITBs with the wrong engine displacement, with the wrong size cams then of course you will hurt performance. Thus the reason in some cases you can make more power with a ported ITR manifold or Skunk2 intake manifold and just 70mm throttle body.

I rarely see people going to the track with TWM. Mostly drag racings. They seem to perform pretty well in higher RPM. Few said that the partial throttle and mid-range seriously suffers from the short runners and awkward linkage. Hmm.

A-Sports looks like a good kit. The design and fitment, throttle linkage, and overall quality is one of the best looking in the market but they seem to be old school toys at this moment of time. A-Sports work best on stock to moderately built 1.6-1.8L engines. They will choke out on fully race built 1.8-2.0L's.

Toda ITBs are great. The design and throttle linkage are top notch. I have heard great results on many 1.6-2.0L fully built b-series engines. They make great HP and torque throughout the entire power-band. The shitty part about Toda ITBs they aint cheap either.

I think if i really have the budget, a custom Jenvey setup will be my best bet. I think when it comes to ITBs, you get what you pay for at the end of the day.

ITBs vs IMs. Jenveys vs TWMs. Sheesh. Every ITBs on the market right now is good. It just depends on the combination.

The main question that you should ask yourself is "am i trying to push the limits of my engine? Or am i trying to be able to drive this on the street on a reliable daily basis?".

Im still dreaming, are you too?

Mivek4doddle Rear Lights Restoration

About 2 months ago, while i was walking around in Home-Fix (DIY Shop), i found this MeGuiar's PlastX polish. At that time this was not part of my buying list and also i wasnt aware they had such product. It was less than RM50 and i bought it straight away. You can actually find it in any DIY stores that sells MeGuiar's product.

Exteriorly, my current rear lights looks good after more than 10 years but when i turned on the lights, i can see that the internal plastic lenses were cracking. It doesnt look good to be honest and it must have been the heat that made this happen. Nothin much i can do when plastic is concern.

So i got myself some used rear lights which were pretty abundance around here. There had some tiny scratches but i wasnt worried about it. So i tried the PlastX on the rear lights and it turned out shiny.

I also applied the polish to my front headlamps and signal which were part of my restoration projects.

For Proton owners, you can get your original parts from http://www.protonparts.com.my/ (Proton Parts). I called them few times to check on the prices for my car. Well since i can get my hands on 2nd hand items, they are good as a backup since they are too many imitation parts selling around cheaply.

This is my 1st time using MeGuiar's product. So far so good. I dont have any specific brand for polishes, waxes and cleaners. Let me see how it goes. Im planning to try Mothers brand on my next updates.

Stay tuned.

Honda CR-X : Miracle X Bar By NEXT

I have a fetish for chromoly bars inside the cabin.

It's definitely part of my VTEC plan, dreams i mean :p

OBX Racing Sports "Shit Is Good"

I thought Omnipower was gonna release their ITBs but looks like OBX have released their ITBs earlier than expected. If you were to search the internet for OBX's ITBs chances you'd find more negative feedbacks about them. Im not sure what were the ill feelings they had towards OBX parts but from my point of view at least they are not mass products made in China or Taiwan. If they do, shit is hell good from the pix as you can see.

I believe some ppl has bought them and tried them already and its pretty hard to get online stories from them and dyno results. The pix shown here i found on the net were the clearest so far. You can try searching if you have free time.

You know and i know they look pretty identical and prolly 95-99% similar to the TODA design. One thing for sure they are 1/3 the price of a TODA and definitely better than the local custom made ones. Far hell more better with all the hidden cost included. If slight modifications and fabrications needs to be done, i think its not an issue at all.

Do or die, TODA aint gonna reduce their prices. With the import tax and international exchange rates, any shit that works is fine with me. Functionality is important as brand name can come later.

I have heard, seen and read JUN camshafts broken many times but they seem to be more popular than ever. On top of that, people complaining about TWM ITBs getting "sticky" and everytime when i buy a car magazine, they(TWM ITBs) seem to be pointing on my face like a tank's canon all the time. Hmm.

I have something to write about ITBs, maybe i'll blog them tomorrow.

Shawn's Honda Civic Sedan (Malaysia)

I've known Shawn since during the Autoworld Forum days. He is very friendly and the only Honda Civic EK Sedan fanatic to date that i know. I know there are many hardcores with the same taste like Shawn but most people tend to sway away with the Type-R fever which seems to ruins everything. Shawn knows everything about the Civic EK sedan specifications under his finger tips. Everything from strict JDM conversions to factory stickers for the car.

As you can see from the pix, originality and simplicity are the keywords here. If you are a EK-4 Si and EK-3 Vi-RS enthusiasts, then i think you can start to drool now.

He is very detailed when it comes to modifications and conversions. He has chose the year 99' spec look both exterior and interior. The Vi-RS interior looks nice. Shawn added the original Mugen rear spoiler and front lip spoiler to complete the car.

Please bear in mind that using only original parts are Shawn's priority. He has spent a lot of time and effort finding all the parts. It took him many years to be where he is now. A lot of hard earned money involved as we speak.

Sometimes i believe its not about the money, you need passion and also ideas to help you achieve your goals in the long run, not few days.

Im giving Shawn a 10/10 for everything. Job well done.

Private Imports - Born In Japan, Raised In Scotland

Few issues back, HondaTuning featured John Fallon's Honda Integra DC-2. The thing i noticed about HondaTuning, they are the thinnest car magazine i purchase every single month. I wish they have more stuffs to print. These days im lazy to surf and read. To some, its not worth even the money to buy magazines. Good articles are bound to be printed unknowingly in any car magazines available these days.

If you stay in UK or somewhere nearby, check out Private Imports. They have good quality JDM cars though the price can be slightly steep. If you are into Hondas, from the catalog listing i think you have a variety of choices to buy semi/full race modified cars from Japan. In the long run, you do save a lot of money if tax is always shadowing you.

Since Malaysia is busy promoting new cars, these sort of deals and dealers do not exist to cater your requirements. The tax alone is absurd. If any dealers were to choose good quality cars, used modified old Hondas from Japan, by the time they reach here, it will be "Born in Japan, Ripped in Malaysia". At the end of the day, the unlucky owner will get a dusty stock car with everything removed completely. Maybe a rusty JASMA tagged extractor as a free token to excite the naive hormones. Too much bullshit.

Check out their cool website and please your eyes.
