Joe's Little Rising Sun

Im impressed with the colour scheme chosen to brighten this oldschool Honda Civic. The two-toned effect makes the car standout as you can see from the pix taken.

Joe is Meor's best friend and he has kept this car for a long time. Had a few engine swaps and finally swapped in a B16A inside this pocket rocket. Many things had to be customed since B16A is pretty much an overkill for this small sized car. Reminds me of the old Mini Cooper with the B16A swap in UK.

According to Meor, the paintjob was done nicely but not cheap. The engine hybrid has been done neatly. With proper servicing and maintenance, this car will survive to whatever nature has prepared for it.

Keep it alive.

GT-Recked

***you can do a google search with words combination of gtr+malaysia+crash. plenty of the same news in other forums and blogs***

I was reading in some of the online forums yesterday so i thought i just blog them today. Well sadly to say, this Singaporen GTR crashed near Sungai Buloh, Selangor. Well, NKVE highway and Guthrie highway goes to Sungai Buloh, you figure it out. The pix below were taken before and after the incident. Bad i would say based on the damage done. Hopefully the owner is alright.

My personal comments would be, if you are a visitor and a sober driver, its high time you respect the law and the speed limit in Malaysia. You never know whats waiting for you even at a safe constant road speed limit. Think about your family and friends when you drive. Being arrogant, ignorant and selfish is going to put your life at risk especially not inside your own country. Sepang track is always open if you start to have speed withdrawal syndrome.

Comments from my best friend Peter :
"It is true on my opinion. The car is now produces more power than older model and at the same time it is not manual transmission that everyone use to drive. The DSG auto + shift pedal needs more time to get use to and of course, the car is GTR but driver not necessary born GTR"

Mivek4doddle Project Fuel Rail System II

I had kept the Goodridge -06 hose finishers(blue) for a while but i couldnt find a good time to fix them. So i had them fixed last week and my fuelrail system project has finally completed.

Price : Less than RM100 for set of 2 Goodridge finishers (excluding labour cost during installation)

SuperPro Power Steering Rack Mount & Pinion Bushes

This is my 1st time buying SuperPro bushes. Been hearing about them since many-many years ago. SuperPro bushes are affordable, just that you need to wait for the right time to change and upgrade them. So i decided to change my power steering rack mounts and pinion bushes for a start.

Meor was at my mech's place to witness the day i swapped my bushes. The original bushes came off and believe or not, both bushes were hard and one of them had cracked god knows from when. According to my calculation, i think these were factory original parts which dated 13 years ago, ha ha.

When my car was hoisted up, i squatted and checked on my old bushes visible underneath the car. To be honest, im gonna change them all to SuperPro at the same time with my 4-disc conversion. Cant imagine having dead bushes on my car now. Damn wear and tear problems.

I didnt snap the new bushes on the steering rack as they were too deep underneath. I could only peeped through from the driveshafts sides.

Price : Slightly below RM100. (Excluding labour cost and wheel alignment)

**SuperPro is slightly stiffer than your original brand bushes. That you have to consider.
**Everytime when there is a bush upgrade, wheel alignment is necessary. Think how many times you want to do alignment when you have so many bushes. Either you want to do front, rear or both sides at a time.

PU Mounts Pix - After 2 Years Of Abuse

Went to my mech last week and serviced my driveshafts boots and end-rack boots. During the processes, they had to remove my cross-member. So i had to do some quick checkings on my mounts. They are as good as brand new.

Sani's DA6 JDM Restoration - The Not Cheap Thing After 18 Years

After a month of thinking, fiddling my thumb and pushing myself into uncertainty, i didnt know this effort would be fruitful as i would imagine. Sani's car will be repainted to the same colour and we have noticed since the last touchup paintjob, all the emblems and stickers has been removed. We hadnt had any plans for restoration back then tho.

At first it was quizzing if any shops still sell genuine Honda parts for this particular model especially. After doing some research and calls made locally and internationally, somehow the effort was worthwhile.

Within 3 months i would say, we managed to get all the exterior emblems that would complete our DA6 JDM restoration process. I wouldnt dare to say cheap since nothing comes cheap when it comes to Honda genuine parts plus the shipping and handling charges, yikes.

After long gone 18 years, we try our best to find/salvage what we can at this moment of time. If you do not have any patience, please do not consider restoration projects. It may take months, years and sometimes incomplete disasters.

(I would like to thank Redza again for the help in this project)

Any chances to get for EF9 or EF8 emblems and stickers?
Yes, if you are serious and willing to pay. EBay is a good place to start.

Why didnt i just go to a sticker specialist?
Original stickers were mass printed and you cant get the 100% same colour. I have asked around and made comparison.

Mivek4doddle Project Disc Brakes Conversion

Im in the midst of buying and collecting slowly all these little things before proceeding with my 4-disc brake system upgrade. I like to do it when everything is ready. It cuts labour cost and my journey to the workshop. Making few trips to the workshop can be tiring and boring if you have nothing to do much.

My plans based on my taste and budget :
  • Better Master Brake Pump (Completed)
  • Goodridge Brake Hoses (Not Installed)
  • EBC Green Front/Black Rear (Still thinking)
  • Crossed Drill Slotted Rotors (Still Thinking)
  • Brake Pump Holder (No Intention)
Well my idea is simple and logical, upgrading the brake system improves your braking capabilities compare to factory system. An understanding to your personal braking NEEDS is a must. Having a pizza sized rotors and 12-pot calipers aint gonna make any difference when the severity of the city jam is abnoxious and driving like a insane driver doest not help uprated brake system but increase your own ignorant stupidity.
Layman better braking systems means :
  • Proper size master brake pump for your uprated caliper pots (Brake pump VS Caliper size?)
  • Correct brake disc fluid upon application (Dot3? Dot4? Dot5?)
  • Correct brake pads upon application (Too many brands, road condition and climate)
  • Upgrade rubber hose to steel braided (Wear and tear factor)
  • Better slotted rotors (If you need that extra braking, this would be bang for the buck)
Why did i buy the steel braided brake lines?
Genuine factory brake hoses are made of rubber. Rubber is not good at heat resistance and it will be swollen by hot brake fluid when the car is driven hard. As a result, more brake fluid has to go into the hose, which means brake pedal has to be pushed deeper even the actual brake performance is the same. This causes the difficult control of the brake pedal and accurate brake control wont be expected. The structure of the strong teflon tube is wrapped by stainless mesh and also clear-coated on it. It hardly changes its shape even with high fluid pressure. The pedal pressure will go directly to the brake calipers without any loss. Youll feel much better brake pedal touch with a better brake lines on your car.

What about Pro-RS and APP(Aviation Performance Products)?
Pro-RS (For Satria Model) = RM2XX (http://www.pro-rs.com/) I have heard good comments just that i like Goodridge fittings better based on my personal preferences.
Goodridge (For Satria Model) = RM3XX (http://www.goodridge.net/) Let me try and comment later.
APP (For Satria Model) = RM5XX (http://www.app-top.co.jp/) The only complaints i have heard so far are the hefty prices.

CHASEBAYS : Full Wire Tuck? Mild Wire Tuck?

If you happen to drive a Honda and has plans to do a clean full wire tuck, i would suggest you get the Chasebays full wire tuck harness for your car. Check out the gallery area and prices on the website.

Sani's SKUNK2 EF/DA Camber Correction Kit

This is one opportunity that any EF/DA drivers should consider about. Nowadays you dont get to see new products being made for oldschool Hondas especially outside the engine bay.

After we got the news that SKUNK2 was going to release them, it was another joyful feeling i should say. We only plan to fix them when the SKUNK2 coilover kits arrives from America which has been pre-ordered. This time the Integra is going to be lowered nicely with the wheels out slightly.

As far as other models are concern like getting them used (commonly Cuscos) from the wreckers or new local made ones, its your call actually. I have heard real-life stories of people that had to spend more to extra-custom the brand new local made ones to get it fitted nicely. I think that would be the last desperation resort if SKUNK2 didnt make them.

Sani's Heatwrapped Intake (DIY)

I had 15 metres left a roll of Heatshield Products wrapper. So i decided to give to my brother for him to do some DIY on his intake manifold. Regardless of stainless steel or aluminium, it has to be wrapped. Pretty neat job.
