My Butt Experience In The FD2R

Last weekend, my brother and myself had to dropby and do some business with Chris. After some deals and lunch with Chris, we were offered a ride in his new FD2R Honda Civic Type-R.

I declined the ride but my brother agreed upon the invitation. So i had to take this opportunity to become a back seated passenger and also a camera man as you can see from the pix.

My facination towards the DC5R Honda Integra is still prolonging. We had our discussion regarding the differences between the FD2R and DC5R. I still believe Type-R should be 2-door, less parts and an over-powered street car. I love the neat pedals and the footrest. Also the nice big titanium gearknob. What i noticed the dashboard looks like a 4WD car that extends longer than a normal car. I love the J'sRacing front lip extension and air-ducts mounts.

When Chris started the engine, it sounded mild in my audible ears. He has swapped the original exhaust system to the J'sRacing titanium version. If you notice the engine is sitting towards near the firewall for better center of gravity.

"Well, 3 big guys in a 4-door car, 18" rims and a aftermarket exhaust system, let's see how it goes", i said.

On a sunny Saturday, what you will encounter normally would be roads filled with cars but Chris took another path on a short distance highway to try out the car.

When Chris floored the car before VTEC engagement, it was soft roaring and smooth ride. When VTEC kicks in, i had difficulty snapping pix onwards. The power burst like a water-baloon and also the power transfer keeps going and going like no tomorrow.

No doubt the power feels slightly better than a DC5R (probably for the final drive and some other enhancement), but also with the heavy body and 3 big guys in it, it performed well unexpectedly.

My brother came out from the car with an endless grin on his face. But then again, the ordering list queue is long at the moment in Malaysia.

So my verdict, if you like 4-door sedan, good 2-litre torque, brand new and comfortable with the RM198k price tag, please get one for yourself.

I would stick to my DC5R dream. It's the 2-door thingy, dont mind me folks.

Thanks again Chris, it's all good!

ps. those of you that would like to buy J'sRacing and Skunk2 parts, you can get Chris to order for you since he is the authorised dealer for both products. he is a friendly chap that i would like to do business with for a long time.
