One Of My Dreams

Got the this pic from the latest Eibach Meet. Never thought something in my dream would appear identical somewhere else. A converted oldschool EF Civic with the same goodies i had in mind.

Throttlebody Upgrade : 60MM to 63MM

This is my 2nd time upgrading my throttlebody. Before this, it was before the quads and now this again. The best way to get it done is to either get a 2nd hand unit which has been bored completely or trade it with someone else. If you cant find any, you have to wait for the machining work process to be done for the boring, change of flap and installation (couple of days maybe?). Upgrading the throttlebody do require some minor calibration with your sensors and maybe your piggyback since there a bit more air coming in now and better response.
  • Stock TB : 60mm Outer, 56mm Inner
  • Modified TB : 63mm Outer, 59mm Inner
  • Plenum size : 56mm
My throttlebody has been tapered down from 63mm to 59mm and the only thing that wasnt done (due to lack of time) was the port-matching to the plenum inlet. Maybe when i have the time next time.
The cost for this upgrade is cheap since i dont have to search for another TB and also trading is an effective way instead of having a tough time selling your stock version.
This modification will help increase my throttle response and i do not expect some power burst on the dyno with this setup. Maybe a little. I know some people have this idea that TB ugrades will make their car go faster. Leaner is definitely faster but not power bursting. Make sure the machine work is done properly and the butterfly flap has been changed to the appropriate size. Air velocity speed and turbulance is something to think about when it comes to sizing of your intake, plenum and length.
So if you have a choice of changing throttlebody which is better than mine, buying from the aftermarkets, by all means please do so. I would love to have a set of 80mm Hypertune TB with its custom intake, ha ha.

Exile & WHC

Eversince Astro showed channel 78, Discovery Real-Time, im totally hooked with Biker's Build-Off show. I know they have shown many documentaries about cars that are worth waiting till late dawn but this bike thing is some sick obssession if you are crazy about customisation. Im impressed with the passion, the fabrication and the hand art done on their bikes. Out of all the builders, i only like EXILE by Russell Mitchell from UK and Walz Hardcore Bikes (WHC) by Marcus Walz from Germany.

The key factors that i like about WHC bikes are they are fucken low, strong industrial futuristic look and all shining black. This is my favourite bike, the Satan's Soul. The price tag would prolly kill me around 100-150,000 fucken Euros. They made a bike for Kimi Raikonnen called the Iceman. Checkout their website and dont miss a page.

Exile bikes are bloody nice. They have this oldschool WWII look that made me drool. They have this flat black style, low riding chassis and wide tyres. They look much simpler than WHC. The cost per bike would be around 50,000 USD. This bike is called Hot Rod. Checkout their website and dont miss a page.

I would love to have these bikes if i could afford one. In the meantime, its legal to dream and drool plus the best part, they have more boobies and booties compared to race queens of JDM racing. Ha ha ha.

Master Brake Cylinder Upgrade

Towards the end of this year, God willings, im planning to do a 4-disc brake conversion. To cut the cost, i did a master brake cylinder upgrade last week. If you can see from the pix, the size comparison are definitely obvious. The double layer are commonly for the ABS system. If you have a GTi/Putra/Mivec pump, it would be sufficient for your stock setup unless you have upgraded your calipers then it would be necessary.
So i decided to settle with the VR4-RS model for my car. It took about 1 hour to fix and bleed the brake system. The feeling was better and the pedal braking wasnt low compared to before.
If you dont understand how a master brake cylinder works, you can go to this interactive link :
I believe some of you guys are into serious racing business where you need the adjustable hydraulic brake proportioning valves besides spending too much money on having the biggest brakes rotors and calipers. These valves have been specially designed for use in competition vehicles where it is desired to reduce the hydraulic line pressure and therefore braking effort to (usually) the rear brakes to compensate for varying track conditions or vehicle handling. You can buy brands like AP Racing, Wilwood. Tilton and etc.
Theres a good article on brake bias if you have free time to read :

On-Road Tuning

Last weekend my mechanic wasnt satisfied with my car's performance although i wasnt complaining so much about it. So he decided to do on-road tuning under the not-so-hot afternoon. I was sleepy at that time so i waited at the workshop and waited for the result. When my mechanic came back with the recorded runs on the laptop, my car was running like a turbo charged engine. Heck, i tweaked around with my SAFC and SITC. After few more runs, the car felt better, smoother and no knocks in the cabin.
The Innovate LM-1, Auxbox LMA-3 and the Bosch 02 wideband sensor bung and plug as seen on the pix are the important toys during the tuning session.

My Sepang Drag Battle Round 2

Thanks to Hizam for snapping some pix during the race. I think it would be nice to snap during the launch at the strip. Prolly next time.
By the way, i did 15.8s on both qualifying rounds. Engine was healthy, street tyres were bald and i had legal fun.

Sepang Drag Battle Round 2 Updates

I personally would like to apologise for the delay updates as i do not have any pix during the recent race. I did not snap any pix during the race itself as i was busy competing. So for next month's race, i wont be competing and i will be snapping more pix like before.
On top is my favourite photo taken from ZTH, Tung Chun's K20 EG 2-Doors in Group C.

Do YOu HAvE A HonDa-Ta?

Photos were taken Monday afternoon at SHHProShop dyno centre. Australian chap tuned 2 Honda Integra DC5 with the Hondata K-Pros. The tuning sessions took few days unlike some tuners we know took few hours. Ha ha.

Mr. Mailman Came Last Week

Last week when the mailman came i had a big smile on my face. Feeling like a kid as usual, i rushed and opened the package. It was a complete set of brand new HKS M35i sparkplugs from SHHProShop. They had sponsered me for the last week's Sepang Drag Battle Round 2.

Before this i was using NGK Iriway 7 which i had no problems at all. Since wear and tear is concern i had to swap to this new sparkplugs. The butt-dyno feeling is smoother now.

The important thing about sparkplugs is to know which is the right model to choose for your application. That is the reason why HKS made the S-series (Denso) and M-series (NGK) models. The variety of models are to suit personal budget and application.
Comparison Link : http://www.shophks.com/categories/?id=1067
NGK Iriway 7 : RM190-220
HKS M35i : RM260-240
NGK Competition : RM400-440

SHHProShop is the HKS Dealer for Brunei and East Malaysia. They have been selling aftermarket parts for many years. Their family business have grown from normal car spare parts to aftermarket performance parts. If you wish your car to be tuned professionally by the Japanese tuners, give them a buzz.

Thank you SHHProShop.
