Peter's JUN MR-2 : June 2008 Hypertune Magazine

Congratulations to Peter for the Hypertune Photoshoot. The thing that im curious is as far as i have been reading Hypertune for a very long time, I have not seen any East Malaysian cars on the front cover (my recollection can be rusty sometimes but im sure there wasnt any from the eastern side). Why is that? As i know East Malaysia are full with JDM cars and less convereted cars for a start. There are heaps of modificed cars in Sarawak and Sabah as we speak.

I also notice that Peter's JUN tuned MR-2 is not part of the INSIDE list on the front page. If Peter didnt tell me, i wouldnt know the MR-2 will be in this month issue. The rest of the East Malaysian Hypertune readers would not know about it too.

Hypertune can boost up their sales for East Malaysia if things are more informative and graphical attractive. Hypertune magazines seems to be limited and pricey in East Malaysia. Well in Kota Kinabalu alone i have seen the shocking jacked up price between RM20-RM30 in different stores.

Engine Bay Polishing (DIY)

Peter did some engine polishing work. I recommended him to use the MeGuiar's aluminium polish.

Peter's New Garage Fukui Rear Bumper (Phoenix's Power)

Peter had the bumper long time ago sitting in his house garage due to the fact he hasnt got time to paint and swap the newbumper. Looks like the bodykit now is complete. When i look at the bumper, its more to functionality rather than style since you can see there are no low rear skirts on the mid bumper to increase air flow and not to scoop air beneath the car.

10 years ago i subscribed OPTION and OPTION2 magazines monthly direct from Japan. Every few months, i saw mods or advertisements from Phoenix's Power, its always about their sick and fast street prepped Toyota MR-2s. Their drag MR-2s are beyond my expectations. I would have chose the same brand for all the parts on the MR-2 if i had one.

Peter Is Bored

Peter is a friendly chap that i met online many years ago during my Honda days.

I believe many of you have seen this car in the local magazines published many times. Indeed, Peter is the new owner of this JUN MR-2 beast.

Peter is lucky to meet the first owner in his life as a colleague and both them started building the project car together. Peter did minor help on the car when the owner left the country for business outstation work.

He left the car in Peter’s backyard and finally he offered the car to Peter with a special price by a reason of being well taken care of his car from time to time including cosmetic upgrade and touch-up of wear and tear problems.

Another reason is, John the 1st owner, did not intend to sell to anyone who will dismantle the car and sell the part out separately like we always know typically those that wants to make profit on top of the market price. This car is more to true enthusiats that appreciates the complete modification package.

I have yet to drive this car one of these days. Koyama-San is always around if he needs more than 500hp, ha ha ha.
