Miri Drag Race 2008 (25/26 May) Timing Results

Peter sent me the results. I can see Samdi's WRX is getting faster all the time with the new 9.98s timing. If the Sabah's Mitsubishi EVO didnt jump start, the EVO might have broken the record by 9.77s. The Sabah's EVO caught fire again and i think they must have boosted to the max this time.

Tony Teo still driving the Honda Civic EG 2-door and won. Heard that Ah Lai R-Engineering from Johor drove another Satria 4WD during the event. Best thing, there was a lady in the VTEC class named Christina. Not bad clocking low 13s.

I also heard another bigger race is coming this August or October in Miri. I think it is worth to go with the $0 fare (excl. taxes and etc) from Airasia and Malaysia Airlines. "Mau pergi kah bosssssssssssss?"

Peter's New Garage Fukui Rear Bumper (Phoenix's Power)

Peter had the bumper long time ago sitting in his house garage due to the fact he hasnt got time to paint and swap the newbumper. Looks like the bodykit now is complete. When i look at the bumper, its more to functionality rather than style since you can see there are no low rear skirts on the mid bumper to increase air flow and not to scoop air beneath the car.

10 years ago i subscribed OPTION and OPTION2 magazines monthly direct from Japan. Every few months, i saw mods or advertisements from Phoenix's Power, its always about their sick and fast street prepped Toyota MR-2s. Their drag MR-2s are beyond my expectations. I would have chose the same brand for all the parts on the MR-2 if i had one.

If you like the brand, you can order directly from them

(Comrade) C's Short Stroke Shift

I did some searching online on my unknown shoft shifter brand and apparently my guess was wrong. After many Japanese to English web translations, looks like the one im having is a C's brand actually.

The main reason why i thought it wasnt a C's was due to the fact the newer models are hell of a shine compared to mine. And i noticed the older models seems to be dark silver in colour.

The one im having is for CD9A/CE9A Mitsubishi Evolution.
http://mivek4doddle.blogspot.com/2006/12/short-shifter-delayed-posting.html

My brother had one last time in his Integra and apprently he sold it off. Actually the C's that he had was just a replacement model for the original and it was slightly shorter than the original. For B-series, nothing feels like an ITR short shifter as the design and length was different.

C's made many nice shifters but it seems their website has been down for quite some time http://www.cs-comrade.co.jp/ . Not sure whos supplying the dealers globally. I think the model im having has been discontinued. The only way to source it should be through the buy/sell online forums.

After reading R3gister blog, the B&M looks nice and i believe it should be better than mine since they add some weight towards the bottom of the stick for smoother, shorter shift time and effortless throw feeling.

One thing about short shifter is it could shorten the life of your gearbox as you could outshift the synchros.

Hmm, let me check the part number and price. Buy them when i have the budget. In the meantime its legal to dream, drool and shutup. Ha ha.

Redza's FULL-RACE Traction Bar

I had a quick meetup with Redza yesterday. The toys he ordered from the states arrived yesterday morning. I can see the boxes being resealed by the Malaysian Customs Department after thorough checking on all the items.

Since we didnt had much space, we had to arrange all the traction bar parts on top of Redza's car roof. Bad thing was i didnt bring my camera so instead i had to use my PDA phone camera.

Well i think Redza made a good move by buying the Full-Race traction bar since he is a fanatic of straight line racing. The good thing about it is, it should reduce wheel hop and improve 60ft timing. Other than cracking your head on which is the best sticky tyres and full lock LSDs to use, the traction bar should be a bang for the buck for drag racing. There will be some settings that he needs to adjust to suit his car setup and from there gradually improve his timing.

Initially i wanted Redza to buy the Z10 bar but he got to know that he had to wait some time for the bar to be made and delivered. There are plenty of brands you can order online as long it bolts to your car perfectly.

If i had an oldschool Honda EF/DA, i would prolly get one myself as long it clears the 4-1 headers and reduce my headache looking for rusty yet expensive extinct dinosaur 4-1 JDM headers meant specially for the EF/DA.

There are heaps of infos online on traction bar brands, installations, comparisons and pros/cons of using it. I have seen people customed fabricated the bars locally in Malaysia and they dont look as good compared to the aftermarket versions. I have to give them a big thumbs-up on the effort done and thumbs-down on the expensive labour charges and precision design, sheesh.

Mivek4doddle Project Mugen Wheel Lugs

To complement the matte black SSR Type-Xs, black Mugen lugs are just perfect to complete the package. After seeing the setup implemented on my brother's car, the plan is good to go.

I need to change all my air valves on all my rims to black colour, that is if i can find them around. I should start hunting them soon.

Mivek4doddle Mugen Lugs Part# 08181-M07-K0S0-BL
My Brother's Mugen Lugs Part# 08181-MZ3-K0S0-BL

If you have notice and make comparison, my brother's lugs are meant for 5-lugs wheel and mine are meant for 4-lugs wheel. Must have been the CTR EK-9 that made Mugen made the extras.

The last time i checked at JC-Racing (Sunway), brand new Mugen lugs were costing around RM550.00 per set. A very obvious price hike compared a year ago.

Mivek4doddle Project Refurbished SSR Type-X 15x6.5JJ +45

My refurbished SSR rims has been sitting at home for quite sometime actually. Long enough for spiders to build their webs around it. It went through the same process like my brother's rims and i have wrapped and kept it nicely. The rims are part of my buildup project and im not in the rush to put it in yet.

No need to be kiasu when you want to build something good once in your life. The Asian kiasu attitude wanting to build, convert and win the same day are common trait these days.

Once my car has been painted, i would prolly try the new Yokohama Advan Parada Spec-II tyres. Im not favouring Yokohama Advan AD-07 due to price and also not suitable to the Malaysian wet weather. Anyways, i had 2 rounds of brand new AD-07s until to this very day and they do perform very well in the dry ONLY.

If your car is a daily driven vehicle, safety should comes first in mind all the time.

Honda CR-X Stanley Fog Lights

I have seen a lot of EF Civics and CR-Xs with the rectangular fog lights. Some of them are still using the original Stanley ones and few of them are using the JDM Koito's version fog lights which are slightly slimmer. The remaining rest are using god-knows-what-brand.

Either ways, if you want to use the original cut-out bumper position or bolt it between the bumper radiator air-ways, both positions are fine as long it serves the purpose and shine through the fogs (cold climate places especially).

Last Sunday we had some fog lights discussion and i was enlightened by the infos from Bob and An. I managed to snap some pix and looks like the Stanley model comes the bumper mounting. It fits both EF-8 and EF-9.

As you can see on the CR-X bumper, you do not have to cut like the Civic bumper as you can slide it thru from the top-back of the bumper. (Sorry i didnt snap from the back)

Rare item i would say but they are aplenty other aftermarket choices if you're not choosy. On EBay, the price should be around USD300-400 for the fogs alone. Round and rectangular models available. If you are lucky, it might come with the rubber seals together.
